BRYN MAWR, PA Advised retirement community in Bryn Mawr, PA, which suffered environmental damage caused by construction on upstream neighboring property. Helped win substantial monetary settlement and significant improvements in stormwater management facilities on the neighboring property.
PENNYPACK CREEK WATERSHED STUDY, MONTGOMERY & BUCKS COUNTIES, PA
Performed all field reconnaissance and measurements that were basis for modeling to delineate floodplains to produce new FIRMs issued by FEMA in 2011. Wrote Model Municipal Stormwater Management Ordinance and recommended 163 new or retrofitted stormwater control measures (SCMs). Co-Principal Investigator for PA Act 167 Watershed Management Plan. Expanded list of recommended SCMs to 243.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA Consulted to property owners in headwaters of Pennypack Creek in Montgomery County, PA, and provided expert testimony in their successful suit against a proposed upstream subdivision with inadequate designs for stormwater management. The development project was abandoned.
SANDY RUN WATERSHED & FORT WASHINGTON OFFICE PARK, UPPER DUBLIN TOWNSHIP, PA New floodplain maps were produced and stormwater management, transportation and land use improvements were recommended.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA Developed wellhead protection plan for nitrate- and phosphate-contaminated sole source water supply well of a historic boarding school in Chester County, PA as a component of the school’s farm preservation and management plan. Contamination was completely eliminated.
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN Conducted environmental studies for a new campus master plan for the University of Michigan prepared by Venturi, Scott-Brown and Associates. Evaluated geologic, hydrologic, and geomorphic conditions for campus infill projects and new construction on undeveloped university properties. Recommended stormwater management, bioengineered slope and stream bank stabilization, and wetland mitigation measures, most of which were implemented.
NATIONAL CATHEDRAL, WASHINGTON, D.C. Teamed with Andropogon Associates on plan for restoration of the Olmstead Woods. Consulted on stormwater management and ravine restoration issues. Recommendations were implemented.
STAPLETON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, DENVER, CO Evaluated geology, hydrology and hazardous materials contamination at Stapleton International Airport in Denver, CO. Advocated “daylighting” and restoration of buried historic stream channels beneath the site, which enabled accelerated remediation and created key open space elements of the redeveloped site, now a thriving residential area of the city.
COLOMBO, SRI LANKA Assisted Urban Development Authority, Sri Lanka, in World Bank-funded preparation of the Structure Plan for the Colombo Metropolitan Region, with emphasis on environmental issues.
